Positions within the Theatre Department include: Technical Director and/or Scenic Designer, Director, Adjunct Instructor.

Technical Director and/or Scenic Designer for one or more HACC Theatre
productions:

Responsibilities may include:
• Construct and Paint Scenery
• Acquire construction/scenic materials as needed (either through purchase or rental)
• Supervision of Student Workers
• Oversee student crew during Technical Rehearsals, Dress Rehearsals and performances
• Work within a designated budget, and submit receipts in a timely manner
• Oversee Strike
• Attend weekly production meetings with production team
• Work closely with production team to support the director’s vision
• Meet all production deadlines as determined
• Must be flexible in terms of availability (daytime, evening, weekend)

Director for one or more of HACC Theatre Productions:
Responsibilities may include:
• Attend auditions and call-backs
• Attend weekly production meetings with production team
• Work closely with production team to develop a production vision
• Meet all production deadlines as determined
• Must be flexible in terms of availability (daytime, evening, weekend)
• Work within a production budget
• Supervise HACC AFA students that are involved in the production
• Attend in their entirety all Technical Rehearsals, Dress Rehearsals, and some
performances
• Work closely with theatre faculty to further the objectives of the AFA program as related
to the production

Adjunct Teaching Positions in Theatre:
• Adjunct faculty are part-time (classroom or on-line) faculty hired to teach on a semester basis.

Provides academic instruction and student academic support for assigned classes. Performs tasks designed to ensure the quality and consistency of academic instruction.

Adjunct faculty must develop instructional methods for their assigned course(s). The instructional methods must pertain to the course(s) learning outcomes and course catalog description.

Minimum Qualifications

Technical Director and/or Scenic Designer Requirements:
• Minimum BA in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in Scenic Design or Scenic
Construction. MFA in Scenic Design preferred. Professional experience required.
• Scenic Design and Scenic Construction work at the college level preferred.
• Portfolio as evidence of design or construction work required.
• Two letters of recommendation required
• Resume required

Director Requirements:
• BA in Directing accepted with an MFA in Directing. BFA in Theatre with a directing
emphasis and/or a MFA in Theatre preferred.
• Evidence of directing credits required. Professional directing credits, and/or directing at
the college level preferred.
• Two letters of recommendation required
• Resume required
• Published reviews of directed work preferred

Adjunct Teaching Position Requirements:
• MFA in Theatre preferred. BFA or MA in Theatre and professional theatre and teaching
experience may be appropriate for certain courses. Resume required.

Positions in this class typically require: grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Working conditions: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).

Licensing Requirements

PA Act 15 Clearances

As a requirement for this position, you are expected to provide current copies of the following: DHS Child Abuse History Certificate, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Information, and FBI Federal Criminal History Background Check prior to your first day of employment. These must have been obtained within the last 60 months and for the purpose of employment (not volunteer). You may submit current copies of your clearances to the Office of Human Resources at the time an offer of employment is made.
