Job Description
The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Professional Assistant Professor of Music (Music Education). This will be a one-year appointment for the academic year 2019-2020. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses in music education, music appreciation, and related coursework, depending upon the candidate's strengths and departmental needs. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team-oriented departmental culture and to undertake other duties according to the needs of the department.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Department of Music is a rapidly expanding unit of the School of the Arts, Media & Communication within the College of Liberal Arts. The Performing Arts Center, opened in April 2005, features a concert hall with flexible acoustics designed by Jaffe-Holden Acoustics, and is the principal performance venue of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and the Corpus Christi Chorale, as well as student and faculty performances.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in music education or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in music education, or a related field; ABD will be considered.
- Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate music courses in areas such as music appreciation and music education.
- Experience teaching music theory.
