Position Description:
Under the supervision and general direction of the Human Resources Manager, this position provides services in the areas of payroll processing, employee record keeping, recruitment, and processing of new hires as well as assisting in a range of other Human Resources services to the Center for the Advancement of Teaching. Carry out tasks as set by the Human Resources Manager, who manages workloads and sets priorities.

The incumbent will have responsibility to interpret and apply payroll policies and procedures in the administration of payroll and time reporting for employees, including monthly and bi-weekly paid staff, student, academic administrator, and academic apprentice employees. Process payroll in accordance with strict deadlines. Administration of the Department's Work-Study Program. Advertise work study positions and conduct one-on-one hiring process. Administer the employment and benefits process. Prepare all UCPath entries associated with employment and changes. Review and process appointments and quarterly reappointments of all ASE/GSR appointees. Determine applicable benefits according to Grad Division's policies and procedures and ensure timely submission of benefits via on-line (Jasmine or Go Grad). Using Campus Data Warehouse and Document Direct, generate multiple monthly/quarterly reports pertaining to payroll, work-study and Academic Apprentice appointments. Prepare expense transfers as necessary. Review job descriptions and recruitment requests for contract employees and enter information into on-line system (PeopleAdmin). Initiate recruitment process as necessary. Establish, nurture and maintain close working relationships with the other departments on campus to ensure smooth coordination of any request solicited and its timely processing. This position will also generate and analyze monthly statistical, ad hoc and payroll reports; assist in analysis of merit and range adjustments and annual performance evaluations; will serve as a primary resource interpreting both departmental and campus wide policies and procedures for staff with regards to benefits eligibility, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, disability HR policies and union contracts.
