Job Description Summary

The Director of Graduate Business Programs is responsible for managing all aspects of the Graduate Business Programs offered by the David D. Reh School of Business. These programs include the One-Year MBA, Online MBA, Healthcare MBA, and other specialized graduate programs. The Director will also work with Graduate Program Directors at both Potsdam and Capital Region Campus (CRC) to manage the operations of joint and dual degree programs. Responsibilities include supervision the Graduate Business programs staff, recruitment, enrollment and retention of high quality graduate business students, and maintaining the operations of the graduate business programs.

Leadership and Supervision

  • The Graduate Program Office staff (2 recruiters and 1 program coordinator) reports to the Director of Graduate Business Programs.
  • The Director will guide the Graduate Recruiters in attracting a high quality applicant pool each year, with a focus on increasing the number of students in all Graduate Business Programs.
  • The Director will supervise all staff members with regard to all operations within the Graduate Business Programs.
  • Help develop and implement a comprehensive system that integrates the core functions related to the marketing, recruiting, enrollment and support of graduate students.
  • Implement the Strategic Plan for graduate programs that advances the mission and vision of the Reh School.
  • Manages a team of three (3); works with team to achieve goals; acts as example for team members; provides continuing education to team, conducts performance evaluations, and issues progressive discipline when necessary.

Enrollment Management

  • Serve as the liaison between the Graduate School Recruiting and Marketing team and the Reh School of Business Recruiting team. Through this partnership the Director will work with both groups to create and realize synergies of collaboration.
  • Develop the annual marketing and recruiting plan to recruit Graduate Business students to ensure the highest quality, quantity, and diversity of applicants can be achieved.
  • Attend Graduate Fairs and Career Fairs across the Northeast to speak with potential Graduate Business students when needed or as appropriate.
  • Maintain relationships with the over 50 partner schools for Graduate Business Programs.
  • Help in the development of new partner school articulation agreements.
  • Coordinate open house events for potential MBA students for the Potsdam Campus and assist with events at the Capital Region Campus.
  • Manage application processes focused on yielding accepted students for all Graduate Business Programs.
  • Lead the scholarship committee to assign scholarships to admitted students and manage the overall discount rates for Graduate Business Programs.
  • Communicate Admissions and scholarship decisions to students and welcome them to their program.
  • Develop appropriate outreach strategies, for example “Faculty Welcome Emails,” to lead to a higher yield rate of accepted students for The Clarkson Graduate Business Programs.
  • Serve as the Liaison to continue development of Enrollment Management software for the Graduate Business Programs such as SLATE, HubSpot, PeopleSoft, Nolij, and Moodle.

Student Advising

  • Academic Advising
  • Develop individual curriculum plans for all Clarkson Graduate Business Students. This includes both the Potsdam Campus and Capital Region Campus Graduate Students enrolled in any Graduate Business program option.
  • Meet with students each semester/quarter in person or virtually to discuss their course schedule, which includes guiding them through their certificate track options.
  • Provide both academic and personal support to all graduate business students throughout their experience with Clarkson.
  • Present international study opportunities to all graduate business students.
  • Collaborate with SAS to enroll all graduate business students in the appropriate courses in PeopleSoft following SAS policies and procedures.
  • Manage the enrollment process for the Summer Business Concept Courses.
  • Develop and implement graduate students orientation programs on both the Potsdam Campus and Capital Region Campus for new students each year.
  • Advise the Graduate Business Association.
  • Train and develop staff to effectively implement the comprehensive approach to graduate enrollment management

Career Advising

  • Manage the Career Course Seminar Series with the Director of the Career Center for all students in the residential program(s) on the Potsdam Campus. Help develop and implement a similar seminar opportunity for Capital Region Campus students.
  • Assist students with resume and cover letter development.
  • Connect students with job opportunities and alumni at the Career Fair.
  • Coordinate internships and special consulting projects for MBA students when appropriate.

Alumni Engagement

  • Develop an active graduate business school alumni network that provides opportunities for alumni to interact with graduate business students.
  • Enhance the alumni network to provide more professional development opportunities for both current students and alumni.
  • Collaborate with the Alumni Relations Office to increase the overall participation level of graduate business student alums.

Program Management and Strategic Development

  • Collect student and faculty feedback to evaluate the graduate business programs and continue to look for improvements.
  • Maintain the Assurance of Learning Process for the graduate business programs to ensure data is collected each term and that the Graduate Policy Committee receives this information to continue to review the curriculum for improvement.
  • Evaluate the graduate student experience from inquiry to graduation to ensure best practices are being implemented throughout.
  • Collaborate with other departments across campuses to look for synergies and improve overall efficiencies.
  • Implement a strategic plan each year for the graduate business programs that will continue to move the programs forward.
  • Participate in activities related to accreditation for the Reh School of Business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Business or closely related fields is required.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with progressive responsibility in a leadership role in a higher education graduate programs office.
  • Management experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Business or closely related fields is required.
  • Management and supervision experience in a higher education graduate program department.
  • Familiarity with educational ERP software such as PeopleSoft, HubSpot and Slate is highly recommended.
  • Current knowledge of University regulations and standards is a plus.
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in higher education with progressive responsibility which includes management of graduate business programs.
Physical Demands
