Designs and implements strategic human resource programs and policies for staff to ensure talent alignment with University mission and goals. Serves as strategic thought partners throughout campus to enable high performing talent. Collaborates with unit and divisional leadership on organizational strategy, talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, compensation, benefits, and employee and labor relations.

Responsible for campus-wide design, administration and management of health and welfare programs, and leave administration for all current and retired faculty, academic staff, and staff employees. Implements and maintains processes and procedures to ensure programs are cost effective, valued by employees, and administered in compliance with plan documents by working with service providers, legal counsel, and internal resources. Note: limited to central roles only that have campus-wide impact.

P3: Requires in-depth knowledge and experience. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external University issues to improve products or services. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Role ImpactIndividual Contributor

ResponsibilitiesThe job develops and implements benefits programs such as pension plans and life, health and disability insurance.

1) Has a deep understanding to provide analysis and administration of a University benefit program., 2) Implements and maintains processes and procedures to ensure that the benefits programs sponsored by University are administered in compliance with plan documents by working with service providers, legal counsel, and internal resources., 3) Analyzes, resolves, and communicates plan procedures and service issues., 4) May recommend plan enhancements or changes to meet University total rewards objectives. Researches and remains current on competitive program offerings., 5) Performs other related work as needed.

Unit-specific Responsibilities

1) The Analyst must be able to perform the necessary data analysis, business/technical process mapping and documentation that will be required in Workday.
2) Conduct business process analysis and needs assessments, in an effort to align Workday solutions with HR – Benefits initiatives.  
3) Analyzes business and user needs, through research and fact-finding, combined with a sound understanding of applicable business processes, systems, and industry requirements.
4) Collaborate in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives, working with central Benefits staff, management teams, and with IT Services as needed.
5) Stay abreast of any Workday updates, collaborating with other members of the Workday Business Systems team
6) May become heavily involved in any subsequent implementations of Workday modules and enhancements at the University
7) Provide ongoing training to Benefits staff on their role and business process execution in Workday
8) Improve the efficiency of and customer satisfaction with, all centralized benefits processes by implementing and enhancing Workday to enable and support these processes.
9) Rely on his/her technical skills and experience and knowledge of the Benefits/HR function to develop systems solutions for functional Benefits/HR process requirements.
10) Serve as a key resource for management in its efforts to make accurate, informed business decisions based on benefits data and processes.
11) Work with ITS and the respective benefit providers and/or TPA’s to develop, implement and optimize integrations.
12) Provide assistance in the configuration, development, testing, and implementation of benefits features of the Workday system and related business processes. This will include the annual Open Enrollment process, related communications regarding the use of the system for Open Enrollment, etc.
13) Develop accurate Workday reports that meet requirements and standards of users and will also conduct high level analysis, metrics, data validation and implements auditing programs to ensure data integrity for benefits programs.
14) Troubleshoot system problems by working with ITS.
15) Conduct audits to ensure benefits-related data integrity is being maintained and works directly with users of data to resolve data integrity issues.
16) Monitor benefits information needs and acts as an advisor in the modification of Workday benefits functionality to meet changing requirements.

1) Superior computer skills with online and/or cloud based applications, as well as common Microsoft Office software (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

4) Coordinate and maintain multiple tasks simultaneously as well as deliver responses and results within established time frames
5) Maintain expertise with the Workday product, attending online and in-person training, actively contributing to Workday Community and engaging in Workday User Group meetings
6) Develop project plans for future Workday releases and updates (as related to benefits), participate in testing for upcoming releases and modifying existing business processes to ensure a smooth transition to the next release
7) Perform scheduled audits for data quality checks, as well as user and role based security
8) Collaborate with team members to assign security roles per University policy  
9) Possesses professional writing and presentation skills
10) Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills
11) Demonstrated ability to learn challenging new technologies
12) Orientation toward finding alternate solutions to increase efficiency and customer service
13) Demonstrated skill in process improvement and project implementation


 

Education, Experience, and CertificationsMinimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
