The Office of Admissions welcomes applications for Transfer Admission Counselor. This role is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of transfer students through the admission process. This position provides admission counseling by communicating and interpreting CU Boulder admission policies and procedures to prospective students, parents, high school counselors and community college administrators. The counselor will work with some students one-on-one to facilitate their transfer to CU Boulder up to and including tailored transfer plans. This position is responsible for evaluating transfer admission applications from a designated regional territory. The role will require extensive travel and have evening and weekend events. Travel will be predominately in-state but will include out-of-state travel. This position will serve as a member of the Transfer Team, but will perform a majority of their job duties independently. This is a campus based position and the individual in this role will have an office on the Boulder campus. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Recruitment
- Responsible for the creation of a recruitment plan and, ultimately, the enrollment of transfer students to the University.
- Analyze data, build constituent relationships, and work to adapt existing policies and practices to meet the needs of the various colleges and students that comprise the counselor’s recruitment territory.
- Conduct admission presentations and facilitate admission events regarding the transfer admission of students to CU Boulder.
- These events will occur both on and off campus and will be for prospective students, families, community college administrators, government agencies, community-based organizations and professional organizations.
- It is expected that much of this programming will be developed and that this position will inherit a limited infrastructure of existing events.
- Review and render admission decisions on undergraduate applications independently and as an active member of the admission review committee.
- Regularly pull and analyze applicant information to ensure a smooth admissions process for students.
- Serve as the liaison from the Office of Admissions to various on and off campus partners and programs.
- Some examples include: Veteran Services, Continuing Education, transfer group visits, school/college liaisons, etc.

- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work with traditional and non-traditional college students, as well as racially and ethnically diverse populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Firsthand transfer experience, either having been a transfer student, having worked with transfer students, or involvement with a transfer application process.
- Previous employment at a community college or having attended a community college.
- Prior engagement within an educational institution in some capacity (for example, as a Student Ambassador, Resident Adviser, Orientation Leader, student employee, etc.)
- Experience working with underrepresented students.
- This position will work with many of the community colleges in the state of Colorado. As such, it is desired to hire a quality candidate who will have easy access to major vehicle transportation thoroughfares.
