The Hartford campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, located in Hartford, CT, invites applications for a half-time or full-time Lecturer, Sr. Lecturer, or Professor of Practice positions as non-tenure track instructional faculty member in the areas of Change and Innovation Leadership and/or Managing Technical Organizations.

Positions may start in July 2019 or January 2020. Initial appointments are for two years and may be renewed, contingent upon funding, performance, and the needs of the program.

In the area of Change and Innovation Leadership, emphasis on the applied practice of strategy formulation, implementation, and analysis in a dynamic environment where purposeful change and innovation is required. Experience leading change in technical organizations is strongly desired.

In the area of Managing Technical Organizations, emphasis on the management of technical organizations and alignment with organization strategy and goals is required. Experience managing large, diverse, and multi-disciplinary teams in organizations producing advanced technologies is strongly desired.

Minimally, candidates must demonstrate expertise and/or experience and have a terminal degree in their field of study. Eveidence of successful teaching and/or instruction is required. Those with extensive, progressively responsible experience as an active practitioner in the field(s) may be considered for rank other than Lecturer. The incumbents will assist in developing and teaching an academic year teaching load over the full calendar year, using primarily blended and low-residency delivery methodologies to graduate working professionals.

Whether appointed at half-time or full-time FTE, the incumbent is expected to continue their professional practice to contribute in the continuous improvement of the related programs. Rensselaer believes that “doing” leads to deep learning and engagement for working professionals, and seeks faculty members who attitudinally believe that mentorship is an important part of the teaching/learning process.

Candidates will have a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a related field, have relevant professional experience, and be able to produce evidence of effective teaching. Optimally, candidates will have at least 10 years of professional experience in the described fields. Candidates with substantial professional experience and a master’s degree will be considered. Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the collegiate level is preferred. Appointment will be made as Lecturer, Sr. Lecturer or Professor of Practice, depending on qualifications.
