The Center of Excellence for Children’s Behavioral Health (COE) is partof the Georgia Health Policy Center, housed within Georgia State University’sAndrew Young School of Policy Studies. The COE was created in partnership withthe Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and DevelopmentalDisabilities.  The COE employs athree-pronged focus on research, policy and practice, and is engaged inproviding: workforce development through technical assistance and training tobuild the capacity of the state’s behavioral health workforce; research andevaluation to monitor and assess behavioral health services for providers andstate agencies to measure program effectiveness; and consultative research andpolicy analysis services for local, state, and national partners focusing onfinancing structures and service delivery opportunities for improving behavioralhealth Systems of Care.  Working intandem with a broad array of partners, the COE is supporting the developmentand implementation of a sustainable System of Care that is individualized,comprehensive, coordinated, culturally competent, and driven by child andfamily needs.


Job Description:


The Research Associate I will serve adual role in supporting both the COE’s research and evaluation arm and programimplementation technical assistance function. This position will engage in evaluation planning and implementation, aswell as programmatic and evaluation technical assistance.   Activities willinclude capacity building with program partners on using program evaluation datato support continuous quality improvement, to support successful implementationand sustainability, and to monitor data collection for program management.  Additionally, the Research Associate I willengage with the center’s team to ensure implementation of high qualityevaluations and technical assistance programs. Technical assistance is centered around helping partnersdevelop a strategic approach to program implementation, build capacityutilizing technical and adaptive approaches, and focus on long-termsustainability using a data informed approach.

Applicant must be extremelyorganized and possess strong research, writing, analytical, and projectmanagement skills, including the ability to successfully coordinate activitiesacross multiple clients, projects, deadlines and deliverables. 

Responsibilities of this position mayinclude:

  • Servesas project support staff by providing administrative and research support toexisting grants and contracts.
  • Collect,manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from multiple providers(i.e. descriptive analyses, trended reports, and statistical analyses)
  • Provide data-informed technicalassistance to partners to support decision-making, capacity-building, andprogrammatic sustainability at the practice, programming, and policy levels.
  • Prepare literature reviews for various projects and topics.
  • Assist with the preparation, coordination and dissemination ofvarious project- and center-specific communication materials including researchpapers, publications, posters and oral presentations, policy white papers,policy briefs, and client reports.  
  • Assist with internal and external meeting design,organization, and facilitation.
  • Attend meetings and conferences.
  • Provide program and research support in the areas of behavioralhealth research and evaluation that contributes to the scientifically soundbackground for GHPC activities.
  •  Assist senior staff in identifying and responding to new researchand funding opportunities

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
  • General health policy experience, qualitative and quantitative research experience, demonstrated proficiency in collecting, analyzing and managing multiple data sources, experience providing data-informed technical assistance, experience working with stakeholder groups, strong writing and communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint is required.
