Position SummaryThe Assistant Director, Facilities is responsible for all aspects of facilities management, including day-to-day operations, maintenance, and renovation projects for the NYU Division of Libraries (DoL). The Assistant Director, Facilities will lead strategic capital space planning for the DoL, including developing a master plan that aligns with DoL and University priorities. Reporting directly to the Dean of the DoL, the Assistant Director, Facilities works closely with the senior leadership team and staff of the DoL as well as with appropriate campus offices and committees to ensure safe, accessible, welcoming, and functional spaces for students, faculty and staff.QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degreePreferred Education:Master's Degree Master’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.Required Experience:7+ years Seven years demonstrated experience with progressive responsibility in building and facilities operations, maintenance, remodeling, and capital projects.Preferred Experience:10+ years Ten years demonstrated experience with progressive responsibility in facilities operations and capital projects.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and administrative demands. Experience in direct supervision of personnel. Experience with project management including the ability to analyze and edit building plans and specifications. Ability to create and maintain collaborative and productive work relationships to achieve goals in a diverse and complex organization. Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness, diversity, belonging, and equity (IDBE).Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Experience in architecture, planning, engineering, construction management, or other design or construction related experience. Experience in cultural institution facilities operations such as those of a library, archive, or museum. Experience with AutoCAD. Experience with environmental controls management systems. Demonstrate an understanding of the criticality of climate-controlled environments in the care of cultural heritage collections.
