Job Summary
Scholarship specialist performs a wide range ofservices to The University of Southern Mississippi and its students withenrollment initiatives. Scholarship specialist assists the Director ofUndergraduate Scholarships in planning and implementation of departmentalfunctions, specifically in awarding and evaluating institutional scholarships,developing and determining office policies and procedures, and managing thedelivery of scholarship assistance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists with the evaluation, awarding, and reconciliation of foundation and undergraduate scholarships for the Office of Undergraduate Scholarships in collaboration with enrollment management units and assists with awarding process for incoming undergraduate students.

2. Assists with data management and reconciliation of awarding systems.

3. Assists the Senior Coordinator for Undergraduate Scholarships with the University Scholarship Appeals process.

4. Advises and serves students, parents, and others regarding scholarships and enrollment initiatives which includes, but is not limited to emails, phone calls, campus visitors, recruitment/orientation events, financial literacy programs, scholarship recipients, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications High School diploma orgreater and relevant work experience

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesLanguageSkills: Ability to respond effectivelyto common inquiries or complaints from prospective students and families,current students and families, and campus partners. Ability to effectivelycommunicate technical instructions regarding scholarship system use to studentand campus partners who may be users

MathematicalSkills: Ability to add, subtract,multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, commonfractions, and decimals. Ability tocompute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

ReasoningAbility: Ability to define problems,collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technicalinstructions and scholarship governing policies and procedures.

Machines,tools, equipment, electronic devices, and computer programs: Utilizes, personal computer, computersoftware (word processing and federal circulation programs), printer, photocopymachine, fax machine, calculator, and telephone. Also uses standard office equipment such asstapler, staple remover, and scissors. Reasonable accommodations may be made toenable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
