Duties

Responsible for providing internal and external support for the Individual and Organizational Giving Division of Penn Medicine Development and Alumni Relations (PMDAR), specifically for the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania and Department of Radiation Oncology (ACC/DRO) development team. ‘Internal’ duties will focus on the planning and implementation of outreach letters, proposals, gift agreements, and stewardship.
‘External’ duties will focus on working closely with select ACC/DRO faculty to plan, implement, and manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of 50 or more prospects rated $25,000 to $1,000,000, event and project coordination for the development efforts of the ACC/DRO as well as coordinating and guiding volunteer and physician interaction with donors and prospects.

Specific Responsibilities:
a) Develop an understanding of the educational, research, clinical, and financial needs and goals of the Gynecologic Oncology Program, as well as the Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine, and the University at large. Speak passionately and authentically about the history, achievements, and strategic direction and have the ability to articulate that vision effectively to a diverse audience.
b) Stewardship. Work in concert with PMDAR’s Donor Relations team and ACC Development’s Stewardship team in managing and/or coordinating stewardship reports/activities for donors. Initiate faculty interaction with donors as appropriate, manage donor recognition projects including production of plaques and select publication pieces, and coordinate with Business Administrators to ensure accurate recording of gifts and communication with donors.
c) Donor Relations. Work collaboratively with ACC major gifts team, PMDAR Donor Relations, and PMDAR/ACC Communications to help ensure that the process of donor acknowledgments by key faculty takes place.
d) Proposal/letter writing and coordination of briefing materials. Responsible for the drafting of select gift proposals, outreach letters, and briefing materials for donors, prospects, and faculty, as well as assisting the major gifts team with the drafting of invitation letters, reports, select correspondence, and briefing materials for faculty, Development colleagues, and institutional leadership.
e) Cultivation. Work collaboratively with PMDAR and University of Pennsylvania development colleagues to provide support in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of new prospective donors.
f) Prospect Management. In collaboration with the Senior Executive Director of Development, successfully grow and manage a major gift portfolio of 50+ donors and prospects to meet agreed upon

philanthropic goals for the Abramson Cancer Center and plan, coordinate, and direct visits and special events for donors and prospects as well as implement strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of portfolio. Focus on donor moves management and work collaboratively and effectively with faculty.
g) Volunteer Involvement. Work with the Senior Executive Director of Development and major gifts team to provide assistance with the production of materials and logistical arrangements for various donor-related meetings and other key projects. This will involve providing support for the Abramson Cancer Center Director’s Leadership Council (ACCDLC) and the Innovation Advisory Board (IAB) and conducting their bi-annual meetings.
h) Special Events. Work with Senior Executive Director of Development and the major gifts and institutional events teams to help plan, staff and coordinate visits, meetings and special events related to prospect/donor activity as needed.
i) Report regularly to the Director of Development and actively manage and implement major gifts tracking/reporting/moves management system.
j) Collaborate with University of Pennsylvania and Penn Medicine leadership as well as development colleagues on all matters regarding assigned prospects.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree required.
2. Three to five years relevant experience in fast-paced office environment, preferably in institutional development, with exposure to prospect management, annual giving, major gifts, volunteer management, and stewardship.
3. Strong administrative and project management experience and the ability to establish objectives and organize a successful approach to achieving fundraising goals.
4. Excellent oral & written communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrates resiliency, high motivation and capacity for hard work within the context of an intensely goal-oriented environment
6. Ability to function independently, yet work in a centralized development structure for fundraising, participating in and contributing to a team effort.
7. Superior attention to detail in an environment where accuracy and timely completion of tasks is critical to maintaining faculty and donor satisfaction.
8. Excellent computer skills essential, including familiarity with prospect management databases.
