Duties of Position

The Director of Outcomes Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership to faculty and staff in the planning, implementation, and use of outcomes assessment to improve instructional and institutional quality. This position also provides leadership for the College’s Institutional Effectiveness work as well as coordination of Strategic Planning processes. This includes promotion of the institutional focus on continuous improvement and data-informed decision making.

Directs the College’s outcomes assessment work including course, program, general education, and non-instructional outcomes assessment.

Consults with academic faculty, Deans and other administrators/staff on all phases of outcomes assessment (e.g., planning, implementation, data analysis, reporting, use of results).

Provides support to all faculty and staff related to the improvement of outcomes assessment activities and data-based decision making practices. Support includes training, consultation, professional development opportunities, and the development of resource materials.

Provides leadership for the Learning Assessment Committee and its work groups to ensure appropriate and timely general education learning outcomes assessment and use of results.

Leads planning and budgeting for the Annual Assessment Conference and Share Fair.

Serves as an outcomes assessment expert for instructional and institutional work including program review, grants, curriculum, strategic planning and accreditation.

Ensures accurate tracking and communication of the outcomes assessment cycle including leadership and oversight of the maintenance and upgrades to the College’s outcomes assessment management tool, Nuventive.

Leads the College’s qualitative research processes, including but not limited to developing, conducting and analyzing results of listening sessions, focus groups and surveys.

Manages the creation and implementation of unit surveys to support indirect assessment and provide data and information for unit improvement.

Drives the development and analysis of initiative evaluation plans in consultation with the strategic plan implementation teams.

Collaborates with the strategic planning leadership team to develop and update strategic plan processes, materials and reports, and ensure alignment across institutional initiatives.

Manages the strategic planning schedule including tracking of goal and strategy team activities, and maintenance/communication of the strategic plan budget.

Manages the development of the strategic plan and institutional effectiveness dashboards including data updates and ongoing progress reporting.

Provides leadership and coordination for the data needs associated with outcomes assessment, strategic planning, accreditation and institutional effectiveness.

Leads the Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Division communication efforts through development and management of a communication plan ensuring College-wide dissemination of data and information for planning, decision making and quality improvement.

Serves as a member of the Learning Assessment Committee and Curriculum Committee by position.

Prepares a variety of institutional reports as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

Master's degree in related field.

Experience Requirements

Minimum three years coordinating/leading an outcomes assessment program/process in a higher education environment. Advanced knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods to assess student learning. Ability to effectively communicate with and influence colleagues at all levels of the College. Experience with leading institutional effectiveness processes and college-level teaching experience preferred.
