Overall Description ofResponsibility or Nature of Work

Thisposition is responsible for directing and performing research focused on metabolic and proteomic adaptations toinflammatory responses, hypoxia and aging.

We seek a bright, energetic, motivatedindividual to contribute to our research program focused on blood and regenerativetherapies driven by mass spectrometry-based omic readouts. Candidates must beself-motivated, detail oriented, have a strong aptitude for learning new areasof research, and be adept at managing multipleprojects in parallel. The candidate’s primaryresponsibility will be to analyze omics data sets from diverse researchsettings and disseminate results in an understandable format as part of ahighly productive research team. Good organizational, computational skills andthe ability to work independently, as well as, part of a research team arenecessary.

 Thefellow will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of researchers,both locally and nationally, and will support informatics analysis for severalfunded projects aimed at improving patient outcomes. Opportunities to developnew visualization tools that enable interactive analysis of MS omic data setsare available. In addition, the fellow will develop and help teach curricula(e.g., graduate level classes and short courses) that promote the use of cutting-edgetechnologies on campus. Ideal candidates have a Ph.D. in biological or computersciences, bioinformatics experience, and wish to expand their training in bothdisciplines. The position will be for two years with the possibility to extendthe fellowship for an additional year. Stipends will beabove the NIH recommended pay scale. Fellows will have the opportunity todevelop collaborations with faculty in the School of Medicine and liaise withpharmaceutical and biotech companies to secure a stable long-term position inInformatics.

  • Salary and Benefits:

    • PhDdegree in biological sciences, computational disciplines, or a related fieldwithin the last three years. PhD candidates withrelevant experience will also be considered.
    • Recordof productivity supported by peer-reviewed publications in internationallyrecognized English language journals
    • Preferredexpertise in R, Python or C+
    • Workingknowledge of mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and proteomics.
