DescriptionThe Senior Research Associate for the School of Medicine’s Thoracic Medicine and Surgery will provide comprehensive senior level coordination of the research activities and complex technical assistance to principal investigators in support of various research activities.

 

The Senior Research Associate will be overseeing general data collection; serving as an authoritative source on research practices, precedents, theory, and principles; ensuring all projects are completed in a timely fashion; acting as liaison with funding agencies; analyzing data; setting research standards; coordinating project requirements; establishing policies and procedures for a division/sub-unit; ensuring staff adheres to all policies, procedures, and professional standards within the division/sub-unit; providing input into divisional strategies based on functional expertise; and identifying and analyzing complex problems requiring in-depth technical knowledge and experience in a specific area or discipline.  

 

The incumbent will also be selecting appropriate course of action that requires independent judgment and typically involves change or innovation in existing procedures or techniques; establishing solid relationships with internal and external contacts in order to: assess customers' longer-term needs; making formal presentations to customer groups; providing training and feedback; and ensuring all projects are completed in a timely fashion. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor's degree and at least four years of directly related research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office Suite software programs. 
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
*Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population. 
*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work in a dynamic environment and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. 
*Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 
*Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
