Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

The Department of Social Work and Human Services at Kennesaw State University is creating a pool of applications in anticipation of future openings for part-time faculty to teach courses related to human services with an emphasis in nonprofit management and social innovation. There will also be opportunities for part-time faculty to supervise students while in their internship sites. Preference will be given to instructors willing to teach afternoon and evening classes using a hybrid, one day per week and/or two-day teaching model (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Preference will be given to instructors who are able to teach in the focused areas of social welfare policy; nonprofit governance, leadership and advocacy; nonprofit resource development; nonprofit budget and finance; nonprofit program development; and social entrepreneurship, enterprise, and innovation.

This position is renewable.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Master’s Degree (or its foreign equivalent) in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Management (with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management), Human Services Management or related field is required for this instructor position; and minimum of one year experience in public, nonprofit or private human service agencies. Ideal Requirements
Doctoral coursework or doctoral degree (or its foreign equivalent) Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Management (with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management) Human Services Management or related field and a minimum of one-year teaching experience is desirable.

The university has committed itself to expanding the global experience of students, faculty and staff through its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), known as the "Global Learning for Engaged Citizenship" initiative, which began in 2007. This program focuses on increasing opportunities for international learning experiences. In spring 2009, KSU awarded its first Global Engagement Certification to graduate and undergraduate students. In 2009, the Kennesaw State Owls completed a reclassification from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I, competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference. During the transition from 2005-2009, KSU teams have won six Atlantic Sun Conference tournaments in five sports, including men’s indoor and outdoor track, women’s soccer, softball and cross-country.

Kennesaw State was originally established by the University System of Georgia as Kennesaw Junior College serving 1,000 students. The college became a four-year institution in 1976 and was named Kennesaw College in 1977.
