Since 1967, the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies has provided high-quality educational opportunities to our ever-changing community. In 1994, in service to this vision, the school established a department of teacher professional development. In 2011 the school created the Center for College Readiness which better encompasses the full scope of the school’s work and impact in this field. Historically training Pre-AP and AP teachers and then in 2005 expanding to include IB teachers and administrators, we are advocates of coursework that is rigorous and prepares students for post-secondary education. Our programming centers on innovative strategies and content to increase the college readiness of students.

The Assistant Director will manage communications and the operations for Center for College Readiness programs in the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. This includes, but is not limited to, development, communications and operations responsibilities for the Advanced Placement (AP) Summer Institute, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, student programming and new educator and student new initiative. Duties require extensive interaction with consultants, multiple Rice departments, the College Board and IB Americas in ensuring program logistics go smoothly. The Assistant Director works closely with the marketing department in planning and managing activities and promotions.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with Pre-AP, AP and IB programs and have worked in a secondary school setting. The ideal candidate has developed and implemented professional development programs at either the campus or district level.
