The University of Chicago Law School seeks a Director of Career Services to join its seasoned team of professionals, providing a comprehensive range of career services to students and alumni of the University of Chicago Law School. The Director will assist with strategic initiatives of the office and supervise several members of the Career Services team. This full-time position reports to the Associate Dean of Career Services.Job FamilyStudent Affairs & ServicesResponsible for services targeting the physical, emotional, academic, and financial well-being of students, including but not limited to admissions, enrollment, athletics, career services, residence life, student activities, counseling, and health programs.Career Track and Job LevelCareer ServicesWorks with students, alumni, and potential employers to develop and implement programs and advising focused on students' career development.M2: Manages professional employees and/or supervisors. Is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from manager. Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.Role ImpactPeople ManagerResponsibilitiesThe job manages a team of professional staff responsible for working with students, alumni, and potential employers to develop and implement programs focused on students' career development.1) Manages employees by establishing annual performance goals, allocating resources, assessing annual performance, and determining individual merit, incentive and/or promotional increases., 2) Develops new and current programs, such as on-campus recruiting events and career management programs, to support students and alumni in post-graduate planning and career pursuits., 3) Expands and enhances the University's corporate network through marketing and outreach strategies and meetings with employers and alumni to increase resources and employment opportunities to students., 4) Performs other related work as needed.
Unit-specific Responsibilities:
1) Delivering a wide range of career counseling, individual coaching and advising, outreach, and programming services for JD and LLM students and alumni, including private sector, public sector, and non-traditional career development
2) Assisting in strategic initiatives, including providing career development support to student organizations, expanding prospects for and interest among students in a wide variety of career opportunities, and ensuring readiness for and compliance with internal and external reporting obligations
3) Partnering with appropriate staff, employers, and alumni to develop and implement strategic plans for student development and employer relations
4) Supervising the Associate Director of Career Services (Coaching and Programs), the Associate Director of Career Services (Employer Recruitment Programs), the Assistant Director of Career Services (Employment Reporting Compliance and Communications), and the Career Services Communications Coordinator
5) Maintaining records to assist the Career Services team in providing comprehensive services to students and alumni and in fulfilling internal and external reporting obligations
6) Representing the Office of Career Services to internal and external audiences
7) Other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean of Career Services

7) Ability to work occasional evening, weekend, and early morning hours
8) Ability to travel as needed
Education, Experience, and CertificationsMinimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.Preferred Qualifications:
Education
1) Bachelor’s degree
2) J.D. or Master's degree
Experience
1) Five years experience providing career or recruitment services, preferably to law students, lawyers, and others in the legal profession
2) Previous experience in higher education
3) Previous management experience, overseeing exempt professionals
