Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Event Operations, serve as the Events and Guest Services Manager. Independently operate and carry out assigned responsibilities while working with the Deputy Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director for Capital Projects, Assistant Athletic Director for Event Operations, and Director of External Engagement in overseeing and contributing to the efficient operation of the Athletic Department. Perform specialized services related to the planning/execution of large-scale events managed/hosted by the Athletic Department, participate in the development and implementation of capital projects, develop/negotiate/execute contracts, and work with senior administration from the Athletic Department, campus, Big Ten Conference, and external clients. The incumbent is expected to develop a thorough knowledge of campus policies as they relate to office functions and have the ability to exercise sound judgment in the interpretation and application of those policies, in particular, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Intercollegiate Athletics policies governing use of facilities. In addition, the incumbent must possess an understanding of the university community as a unique setting for social education; have knowledge of and sensitivity to current student concerns and campus problems; and demonstrate sensitivity to multiculturalism and diversity issues. A flexible and non-traditional work schedule is required including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Athletic Administration, or related fields is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

The most qualified applicants will bring the following:
* Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience in Intercollegiate/Professional athletics required
* Previous experience in athletics administration and large scale event planning for a collegiate or professional organization is preferred.
* Ability to represent the athletic department and the campus with sensitivity to customer concerns in the interpretation of athletic board requirements regarding facility use.
* Be able to develop and implement innovative approaches and solutions, work well independently and in teams, and be flexible to accepting new responsibilities.
* Ability to work/communicate effectively in a leadership role during high-pressure situations while handling multiple tasks simultaneously independent of direct supervision

Ideal candidates should demonstrate:
* Understanding of NCAA, Big Ten, and WCHA rules/regulations is preferred.
* Excellent organizational, communication, administrative, time/project management skills.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office and industry specific (CAD, EMS, Social Tables) computer programs.
* Knowledge of crowd management, safety/security procedures, and disability accommodation services.

Conditions of Appointment: This is an Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included. Anticipated start date on or after July 1, 2019.
