Basic Function
The Graduate School of Psychology at California Lutheran University has an immediate opening for a 9-month Visiting Lecturer (with benefits) in the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) to begin in Fall 2019. The person hired in this visiting line will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time, tenure-track position starting Fall 2020.

The successful applicant for this position will be able to demonstrate outstanding commitment to doctoral teaching and dissertation research mentorship. Applicants specializing in the scientific foundations of psychology, research methods and statistics, or clinical training are welcome to apply. Primary responsibilities include teaching doctoral-level courses in the scientific and/or clinical foundations of psychology and assisting students throughout the dissertation process. Because Cal Lutheran is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), applicants who can demonstrate effective mentoring of students from underrepresented backgrounds will be particularly competitive.

The PsyD program in Clinical Psychology is an APA-accredited doctoral program housed within the Graduate School of Psychology (GSOP) at California Lutheran University. The GSOP also offers Master of Science programs in Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology (MFT emphasis) and operates two large community counseling centers that provide low-fee clinical services in both Spanish and English. Consistent with the values of the GSOP, the PsyD Program distinguishes itself by having small classes, a caring faculty and staff, state of the art facilities and technology, and a rigorous curriculum designed to train students in accordance with APA's Profession-wide Competencies in Health Service Psychology. The PsyD program accepts 17 students per cohort, follows a practitioner-scholar model of training, and embraces three overarching goals: (1) to develop clinical skills focused on the integration of practice and research, (2) to develop competence in research and scholarship, and (3) to instill an appreciation of human diversity by serving the underserved.

Cal Lutheran is an accredited, private, comprehensive university that is dedicated to educating leaders for a global society and who are committed to service and justice. The PsyD program fully upholds and furthers the value of diversity as stated by the University. We encourage applicants who are motivated to contribute to our mission and candidates who are from traditionally underrepresented groups to apply.

To apply for this position, please prepare a cover letter, curriculum vitae, course evaluations (if available), and include three references who will be contacted for a letter. Applications will be accepted and reviewed immediately, and the position will remain open until filled.
