The Director of the New Student Center is responsible for the Student Development and Success Team and provides leadership in Pre-Enrollment, Testing, and other services related to new students. As a member of the Dean’s Student Services team, the Director participates in the strategic planning process and works to support the instructional and student service initiatives. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

  • Directs the creation of dynamic and innovative programs that will facilitate, improve and/or sustain student success at the College
  • Creates a culture that supports student success and support services to the campus and local communities
  • Oversees the supervision and evaluation of personnel, which includes hiring, training, and problem resolution
  • Motivates employees to achieve peak performance
  • Develops and implements an enrollment management program
  • Identifies and tracks, and supports students identified at-risk and the academically talent
  • Manages outreach and enrollment initiatives
  • Utilizes technology to support the planning, implementation and on-going evaluation of Campus recruitment, retention, and transition programs/services
  • Assists with research by assessing changing student demographics and Campus trends to support program design
  • Develops grants to support Campus and Student Services initiatives; and develops and implements assessment plan for student support services and programs
  • Serves as Campus and College committees
  • Participates in the development and implementation of College policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs Administration/Counseling or related field and five (5) years of relevant administrative experience
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
  • Ability to direct multi-department technical, creative, and administrative staff
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, and be able to deal effectively and courteously with supervisors, peers and governmental representatives
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of student life/service issues and concerns
