Occupational SummaryThis role reflects Duke's commitment to and strategic investment in community partnerships. The position reports to the Vice President for Durham and Community Affairs and is an instrumental member of the senior leadership team, dedicated to community engagement.
The role involves collaboration with key Duke and community-based partners to advance collective interests. The AVP will establish a vision and implement strategic objectives to support the institution's community affairs endeavors. The role will provide strategic direction for community partnerships and serve as a champion for community collaboration.Work PerformedFacilitate, develop, and implement resources to support non-profit capacity buildingRedesign a comprehensive plan for employee giving, Duke-Durham Fund, and community giving campaigns and coordinate with community foundations on departmental grantsLead the redesign and implementation of employee giving programLead the redesign and implementation of the community grants programsEstablish a program evaluation structure to support the stewardship of resourcesOversee, help define, and communicate all fundraising priorities and activities of the Office of Durham and Regional AffairsLead and collaborate on grants writing and review for sponsored programs within community affairs. Establish metrics, jointly with the community and colleagues, based on outcomes and measures of success related to priority focus areasCollaborate to produce reports, presentations, and reliable information regarding Duke-Durham partnerships and understand best practices related to university-community partnershipsGuide data-informed decision making for programmatic partnerships. Support development efforts in collaboration with Duke Development team.Work with colleagues across the institution to collaborate on prospects with multiple interestsCoordinate and manage the communication of information toinclude briefings, development update agendasLead asset mapping and data-warehousing for university-community projects and partnerships.
