In its relatively short history, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in Durham, North Carolina in the United States has established itself as one of the leading business schools in the world.  We enrolled our first class (12 strong!) in 1970. Today, the annual enrollment in our degree programs is approximately 1,620. These programs include The Duke MBA - Daytime, The Duke MBA - Global Executive, The Duke MBA - Weekend Executive, the Master of Management Studies (MMS): Foundations of Business, the Master of Quantitative Management and the Ph.D. program. Overview:  The REGIONAL MANAGER will support and participate in a team effort to market, recruit and yield students for the full portfolio of programs (Daytime MBA, Executive MBA, MQM, MMS, & MQM-HA) and non-degree Executive Education programs at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. S/he will also provide administrative management and coordination for marketing and recruiting functions, reporting to the Sr. Regional Director located in Durham, North Carolina.  The Regional Manager will support ongoing planning and management of program and residency planning in collaboration with the Executive MBA Programs team, admissions, career services and business development within their assigned regions.  The manager will also work closely with Admissions, Development and Alumni Relations, the Career Management Center, Marketing, and the Dean’s Office to ensure strategic coordination of all efforts. The manager will require the initiative and commitment to do a lot of the “hands on” work.  Extensive global travel will be required within the regions, with a primary focus on India and Latin America. 
Job Responsibilities:

  • Travel within the assigned regions, primary focus on India with a supportive role in Latin America promoting Duke’s MBA, Executive MBA, MQM, MMS, MQM-HA and non-degree Executive Education programs and further developing our brand recognition and value in the assigned markets. 
  • Assist in building the Duke MBA’s presence in the region through developing business partnerships with key organizations and executing marketing initiatives. 
  • Implement the school’s annual strategy for selling, marketing and promoting all programs in the region. 
  • Coordinate with Admissions to implement strategies for recruiting students from the assigned regions.
  • Manage relationships with corporations to: attract companies to recruit our students, develop strong ties and public good will with key recruiting companies, promote Daytime and EMBA programs, look for non-degree executive education opportunities, and support our alumni in those corporations.
  • Coordinate with EMBA programs on delivering a high-quality experience for EMBA residencies in regions.
  • Enhance key partnerships with leading educational institutions, government and corporate entities critical to our ability to conduct business in region.
  • Represent Duke at conferences along with other brand building opportunities and provide program support as needed. 
  • Conduct market research to inform strategic planning for assigned regions.
  • Education and Experience:
  • MBA or advanced degree in higher education administration with an international focus is preferred.
  • A culturally savvy professional with a minimum of 5-6 years of experience in admissions, business development, marketing, career services, and/or program planning preferably in industry or another top business school.  
  • Demonstrate maturity and the ability to work independently with strong judgment. 
  • Must have excellent English language capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is strongly desired. 
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
  • Must be able to quickly adapt to living in an environment requiring strong cultural sensitivities and flexibility. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and excellent problem-solving ability.  
  • Experience managing programs, admissions and/or marketing internationally is preferred.  
  • Strong project management, program management, communication and relationship building skills are essential.
  • Strong skills in public speaking and presentations.
  • Experience working in a global environment, both in person and virtually, a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills –Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media outlets.
  • The ability to quickly develop relationships across teams and departments.
  • Ability to work within a team environment. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with various constituents inside and outside of Fuqua, domestically and overseas.
  • Position Qualifications (Preferred)
    Minimum five to six years of admissions, project management, business development, or educational administration experience, with significant background in managing complex projects. Previous international travel experience is highly desirable.  Experience with delivery of international programs strongly preferred. Experience with diverse populations in a business or higher education setting is desired. The successful candidate will be a person with a high level of maturity and confidence. The ability to handle multiple priorities in an independent manner is essential.  Strong computer skills required. Superior written and verbal communication skills are foundational in representing the Fuqua School to our constituencies. Likewise, outstanding attention to detail is a critical aspect of the required skill set, given Fuqua’s commitment to delivering a world class, end-to-end experience for our students and constituencies.  A significant amount of international travel is required; six to seven times per year, for a duration of 4-10 days depending on location.
