Dean, Retention and Student Engagement
The Dean of Retention and Student Engagement creates an environment of welcome and care for students to begin the progress through their educational journey at the College. As a collaborator who can engage in scaling program that provide personal attention to students, the Dean is responsible for overseeing effort that relate to the continuous enrollment from orientation to completion.
A. Provides overall leadership for the effective planning, implementation and functioning of the program and service offerings for any combination of the following areas:
1. Academic Advising
3. Student Orientations
4. Student Success Initiatives
5. Testing Center
6. Transfer Center
B. Actively collaborate with college faculty and staff to ensure ease in matriculation as students begin courses at the College.
C. Exemplifies strong supervisory skills that build collaborative partnerships among enrollment management services.
D. Oversees, expands, and leverages retention programs such as Triumph and Surge, two college initiatives developed with the purpose of supporting students of color.
E. Engages the college community in understanding the principles behind best practices for the first-year experience.
F. Recommends and oversees all policies and appeals as they relate to student retention.
G. Engages with faculty and academic administration in the development of creating clear pathways for student success.
H. Provides overall leadership for grant initiatives to complement existing programs and services.
I. Represents the College at meetings of the governing agencies, colleges and universities, at both the state and national level related to the areas of responsibility.
J. Provides leadership in recommending, developing, and implementing new/revised student enrollment services programs.
K. Coordinates and evaluates the program review procedures of areas of responsibility.
L. Responsible for the preparation and allocation of the annual budget for areas of responsibility.
M. Other duties as assigned.
A. Vice President, Enrollment Management & Student Affairs
A. Assigned administrators, mid-managers, and classified staff
Master's degree or equivalent in education, student services, or related field.
Has a minimum of three years managerial experience in student services or related field.
Has knowledge of academic and student support programs and services.
Has demonstrated the ability to manage student services programs for a diverse student population.
