Lake Tahoe Community College District announces an opportunity to work with the Institutional Effectiveness and Title III grant team. Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, conduct data collection and analysis, program using Statistical software, formulate database queries, design and produce complex tables, graphs, and reports, obtain research information from appropriate data sources, and perform other related research collection, analysis, and dissemination tasks.

The focus of Title III is to improve Institutional Effectiveness and Student Retention through Increased Engagement and Data-informed Decision-Making. This position represents a unique opportunity to build capacity and create sustained systemic change to the college.

This position is full-time, grant/categorically funded, non-exempt from overtime compensation and is scheduled 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Hours are expected to be Monday-Friday, generally within the hours of 8 am to 5 pm; hours may vary according to the needs of the department. DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, conduct data collection and analysis, program using Statistical software, formulate database queries, design and produce complex tables, graphs, and reports, obtain research information from appropriate data sources, and perform other related research collection, analysis, and dissemination tasks.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Collect, analyze, evaluate data; provide recommendations based on quantitative, qualitative, and historical information from multiple sources, both internal and external; assist with data entry; maintain and monitor accurate data files, supplementary databases, and data sets; design and conduct statistical analyses on a variety of data sets according to information needs and institutional priorities and goals; independently conduct statistical analyses using multiple software applications, including graphics, word processing, spreadsheets, relational databases, and data analytical software.

Plan, prepare and revise a variety of reports for college personnel and state and federal agencies to fulfill compliance requirements and ensure funding; prepare data summaries and other reports for oral and written presentations to various constituencies using software, visual aids, media and other methods; design and implement all phases of research studies, including selecting appropriate research methods, collecting and accurately analyzing data, preparing narrative reports and presenting findings to various audiences; analyze and synthesize data for reporting purposes; present research findings clearly and effectively.

Provide support to faculty, staff, and administrators in program review, accreditation self-evaluation, and various planning processes; assist faculty, staff, and administrators in the assessment and evaluation of institutional effectiveness and student learning at the course, program and college levels by supplying needed information, analyses, and accompanying narrative; maintain documentation of college-wide assessment activities.

Collect, prepare, and maintain statistical data, records, surveys, and reports to assist the college in assessing effectiveness of projects and in satisfying program requirements; assist project staff and faculty in developing methods and measures to track improvements and outcomes; collect, analyze, and report data to support grant proposals; provide other support to grant-funded and categorical projects, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: 

Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree with coursework in statistics, mathematics, or economics and three years of relevant experience with research and analysis activities.

Knowledge of:

  • Relational databases and advanced database design and management.
  • Computer project management techniques and methods.
  • Computerized data storage and retrieval.
  • Data analysis software such as SPSS.
  • Relevant current information technology including hardware and software systems.
  • Research design for original data collection and analysis.
  • Operation of a variety of a computer and assigned software.
  • Computer programming principles and methods.
  • Commonly used software application including Microsoft Office applications and Internet tools.
  • Technical and research report writing and presentation methods.

Ability to:

  • Assist end users with data extraction and analysis.
  • Learn Colleague database system.
  • Exercise critical judgment and creativity and to work independently.
  • Analyze and organize data and develop effective solutions.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative effective working relationships with faculty, staff and others contacted during the course of work.
  • Prepare data and process diagrams.
  • Prepare written documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Modify processes and procedures to solve complex computer problems.
