This newly developed position will shape departmental vision, supervise three full-time staff, and work closely with student legislative, election, and onboarding processes to support student engagement and success.

Oversee SGA’s advocacy and programming for graduate students and students in transition. Guide leadership development workshops, freshman and transfer institutes, and cohorts. Support advising of the Congress of Graduate Students and graduate student community programming. Directly supervise Student Program Coordinator for Grads and Transfers, and indirect supervision of support staff, graduate interns, and student staff.

Advises the SGA Legislative Branch, including the Student Senate, standing committees, and funding boards. Attends meetings and events, meets one on one with top leaders, and provides guidance and support. Interprets, applies, and ensures compliance with Student Body Statutes, the Florida Administrative Code, State of Florida Statues and Laws, and the rules and regulations of the Florida State University. Ensures proper and timely processing of legislative bills, resolutions, journal, calendar, open positions, and reports. Provides training materials, learning outcomes, and assessment for all student leaders.

Provide direction and oversight of departmental marketing initiatives and Student Publications, ensuring strategic marketing, active participation in Division and University Communications networks, solid print and social media components for department and student voice, and seamless learning, development, and job training for student employees and interns. Directly supervise the Student Governance and Advocacy Media Specialist and Webmaster, performing evaluations and trainings as necessary.

Advises the SGA Supervisor of Elections, including the management and support of three campus-wide elections, elections and appeals processes, and overall oversight of technical elections processes. Supports inauguration ceremonies and processes. Educates student participants and the student body regarding civic engagement and literacy. Ensures campus involvement in civic activities.

Attend SGA entity sponsored programs, establish connections with students, and have overall knowledge of SGA and Florida State University. Provides ongoing training to students and staff on SGA procedures and policies; leadership and governance development; and University rules and regulations. May be assigned budgetary responsibilities.

Develops and maintains effective and collaborative working relationships with multiple constituents, including campus offices, academic departments, students, staff, faculty members, and various other community groups.Qualifications Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience related to the duties of this position.

(Note: a combination of post high education and experience equal to eight years.)

Experience advising student organizations.

Experience working with diverse populations.

Knowledge of student civic engagement and legislative processes.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Preferred Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field; experience with student governance, advising student organizations and diverse students, and student civic engagement activities is strongly preferred.

Candidates for this mid-level position should also have an understanding of student legislative processes, interpreting and developing policies, the ACPA/ NASPA Competencies.

Experience working on a college campus with at least 3-5 years of higher education professional experience.Pay Plan This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
