Grants-Budget Analyst

Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrimary Objective: The position is responsible for analyzing and monitoring grant budgets at City Colleges of Chicago.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Coordinates the budget process for grant recipients.
  • Analyzes the submitted budgets to verify accuracy and distribution of funds among the categories of salaries, employee benefits, purchased services, supplies and materials, capital outlay and other objects.
  • Posts funds into computerized financial system to ensure availability, creating spreadsheets from text files, copying into Tellnet, uploading into computerized financial system, and importing files into the system.
  • Monitors grant budget expenditures by monitoring the budgeted account, tracking budget transfers and creating journal entries.
  • Assists with preparation of the District’s consolidated Annual Budget by providing grant budgeting information.
  • Analyzes and prepares projections for grants one year out. Prepares data for special project requests. Compiles various reports.
  • Reviews and approves fund availability for personnel requests funded by grants. May review and approve all other funding for personnel.
  • Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field, supplemented by two to five years of experience performing related duties.
  • Must possess knowledge of grants, budgets, and the principles of accounting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work well with employees at all levels of the organization, and the ability to handle all situations with tact, diplomacy and a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be proficient with knowledge of a variety of software packages.
  • Must be self-directed, innovative and able to assess current operations in an effort to develop practical action programs to improve the functioning of the department.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
