Job Summary
Installs, maintains, and repairs electricalsystems, facilities, and related electronic controls and devices in additionto, all primary and secondary power systems. Reads utility meters as required. Works athletic and other events asassigned, which often occur after normal working hours and on weekends. This position is considered “essential personnel” and may require unusualattendance responsibilities, such as storm duty.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Installs, maintains, andrepairs electrical equipment and circuits such as wires, conduits, switches,outlets, junction boxes, transformers, motors, and generators in facilitiessuch as pumps, lighting equipment, carrier systems, timing devices, electricalheating units, exhaust systems, smoke detectors, fire alarms, hypothermalunits, thermostats, timing devices, Lutron lighting dimmer panels andelectrical systems of furnaces and boilers.

2. Completes assigned work ordersin a timely and efficient fashion while maintaining a friendly and professionaldemeanor with all customers.

3. Cuts, threads, bends, andinstalls piping for conduits; disassembles, cleans, repairs, and reassembleselectrical motors and related equipment following established procedures.

4. Tests, maintains, and repairsall emergency electrical equipment including generators and back-up UPS.

Minimum Qualifications Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year related experienceand/or training. Post High School/GED electrical training certification course. Must be a certified electrical journeyman. Must havea valid MississippiCommercial Driver's License with Class B endorsement or obtains a C.D.L. with Class B endorsement within the first three months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities1. Utilizesbucket truck, drills, saws, pipe cutters, threaders, wire-pulling devices,climbing equipment, benders, voltmeters, amprobes, high voltage testers, andUniversity vehicles. Also uses standardhands tools, such as hammers, screwdrivers, and pliers.

2. Ability toread and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups ofcustomers or employees of organization.

3. Ability toadd, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpretbar graphs.

4. Ability toapply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,oral, or diagram form. Ability to dealwith problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
