Position Description

The primary responsibilities for this position are to ensure the NCIPH (NC Institute of Public Health) website and other related program sites are current, complete and in compliance with the UNC Gillings School of Public Health website templates and standards. This position also assists with promotion efforts across multiple channels for training courses, projects and general NCIPH activities, such as creating and curating social media content and producing printed marketing materials. In addition, s/he provides graphic design and editing/proof reading, maintains mailing lists and other duties.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Technical Skills: Proficiency in the following technologies is essential to the role: WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, email design tools (such as MailChimp) and DreamWeaver (or similar HTML editing software). Must demonstrate competency with graphic design and ability to maintain NCIPH and UNC Gillings branding and style guidelines.

Communication: Must have the ability to establish and maintain a variety of working relationships and collaborate across teams and/or organizations, as the position requires working closely with other NCIPH staff and with the School’s communications staff to ensure consistency and accuracy. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Consulting/Advising: Must have the ability to identify, advise and collaborate with clients regarding communication needs and issues. Must have a thorough knowledge of techniques for disseminating information to the public and to specific target groups and the ability to assess communications effectiveness.

Organizational Sensitivity: Must have the ability to understand the mission, objectives and goals of related projects/programs. Must have the ability to assess the potential impact of internal/external communications efforts and make necessary adjustments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with video editing and the ability to copy-edit print and online materials preferred.
