DescriptionThe Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions offices are seeking to hire a Director of Marketing and Communications.  This position will provide leadership in marketing and market analytics for academic programs at the undergraduate (both two year and four-year side; to include scholarships, Move on When Ready, Success Academy and other programs) and graduate level.


The position will work closely with Public Relations and Marketing Communications to ensure consistency in messaging to prospective students, across web/online, email, social media and print formats.  The position will oversee the use of a customer relationship management (CRM) system for marketing to prospective and admitted students to increase and convert contacts through the admissions funnel, including e-communications, generate data-driven models that inform enrollment management goals, and collaborate with Enrollment Services and the Director of Graduate Admissions to assist in the communications plans within the Customer/Constituent Relationship Management system.


The Director of Marketing and Communications is also responsible for supervising the admissions marketing team which includes the graphic designer, email market specialist (2), web content strategist and the social media coordinator and manages all vendor relationships related to marketing and communications.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic direction and oversight for all marketing plans, including planning and implementation of strategic marketing communication using the CRM system. This responsibility occurs in collaboration with the Director of Graduate Admissions and the Associate Vice President for Admissions and relies on audience segmentation and message strategy development.

  • Develop outcome and profile pieces for furthering recruitment goals. Oversee all plans for media planning and buying, including the production and placement of media advertising and evaluation of effectiveness of each campaign via analytics.

  • Partner with faculty and staff to identify new academic programs with high marketplace demand and determine the value proposition of existing academic programs.

  • Identify and engage domestic and international pools of student prospects and admitted students using the CRM system to convert students through the admissions funnel.

  • Forecast enrollment and contribute to enrollment management through modeling of local, national and international data.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Graduate Admissions and the Associate Vice President for Admissions to develop and implement plans to increase and convert contacts through the admissions funnel, including e-communications via the CRM system and social media platforms.

  • Manage all vendor relationships aimed at driving student recruitment and enrollment. Provide leadership around training and implementation of these tools such as Admit Hub and Slate/Hobsons to convert prospects.

  • Collaborate with the Technology and Research Team to create filters and mine data to communicate to prospective and admitted students using the CRM system.

  • Work with existing GSU units including, but not limited to Financial Aid, International Student Scholar Services, Study Abroad, Housing and Orientations, and Public Relations and Marketing Communications to ensure coordination of recruitment and enrollment processes. 

  • Represents the Office of Admissions (undergraduate and graduate) at meetings related to marketing and communications.

  • Work with Business Manager to manage the academic programs recruitment and communication budget.

  • Supervise marketing staff. Coordinate human resources activities including: creating/modifying position descriptions, performance appraisals, hiring, staff training, discipline, conflict resolution, and termination of employees. Have knowledge of campus human resource policies, procedures, and employment development opportunities. Maintain materials for use in policy and procedure manuals and training documents.

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent, effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Extensive experience developing comprehensive communication flows.

  • Extensive knowledge in creating data filters and data mining.

  • Proven analytical and creative ability to address targeted messages to a variety of audiences.

  • Possess working knowledge of the admissions process and university policies.

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with various constituencies.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with technologies including on-line admission systems and client relationship systems.

  • Firm understanding of web technologies, applications and analytics, including social networking, social media tools and current communication trends (including video and mobile).

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 



QualificationsBachelor's degree and six years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.
