Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Students, this position enhances a sense of campus community by fostering GSC students’ awareness, appreciation, and excitement for involvement in co-curricular activities and experiences focused on their personal engagement, growth, and development. To build this community, the Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of diverse student activities and events, coordination and support of student clubs and organizations, advisement and mentorship of students and student leaders, and the management of student activity and recreation facilities.

Major Duties
•Develop, implement, and evaluate a diverse array of student life programs, events, and services which provide meaningful co-curricular engagement for all GSC students.

•Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Activities which includes the management of two full-time professional staff members, hiring and training of Student Activity and Recreation Center (SARC) student staff, and oversight of office administrative support functions.

•Serve as the primary advisor to the Campus Activities Board (CAB) ensuring the organization provides a diverse offering of programs and events and providing advisement on matters involving program development, marketing, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation.

•Support a diverse and collaborative programming vision by providing direction, training, and support for student clubs and organizations, including new organization approval processes and management of all organization forms and operational processes.

•Provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations and maintenance of the Student Activity and Recreation Center (SARC).

•Lead signature college-wide events and programs (e.g., Week of Welcome, Spring Fling, Homecoming, etc.) and assist with other signature events (e.g., Graduation, Student Leadership Academy, etc.).

•Manage and track budgets with funding from various sources (e.g., student activity fee, state funds, fundraising, sales and services, etc.).

•Assist the Dean of Students with Student Activity Fee allocation, management, and reconciliation processes.

•Co-advise the Student Government Association.

•Lead the assessment and evaluation of student activities programs and services which includes the review of student participation and facilities usage, student satisfaction, and student learning data.

•Maintain and update department websites and social media outlets.

•Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary is $43,039.28.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

•Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.

•Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Student Personnel or Higher Education Administration.
