This position is responsible for providing counseling services to Gordon State College students.
•Provides students with academic, career and personal counseling.
•Interprets students’ psycho-educational assessment reports; determines needs and provides individualized academic accommodations; interprets psychological and development assessments and inventories.
•Maintains confidential records of student sessions.
•Develops and facilitates structured groups, workshops, presentations and counseling outreach programs.
•Provides emergency and crisis counseling to students, faculty, staff and administrators.
•Identifies and develops appropriate community referrals.
•Consults with faculty, staff and administration about the developmental, personal and disability needs of students.
•Promotes the adoption of healthy lifestyle choices for mental, emotional and social health.
•Supports students with evaluations of admission withdrawals, deferrals and transfers.
•Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
•Serves as an advisor to college campus; serves as an advisor to student organizations.
•Attends and participates in staff meetings.
•Participates in continuing education as mandates by licensure.
•Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary is 37,112.64.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
•Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year.
•Possession of an appropriate state-certified license in counseling or a related field.
