PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:  Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the health and well being of Campus School students and respond to their daily medical and health needs. This is a full time 42 week position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to and keep accurate records of student illness, medical needs and injuries as they occur during the school day.

  • Administer restricted medication to students.

  • Administer yearly vision and hearing screening.

  • Communicate with parents and faculty regarding illnesses, chronic conditions and/or injury of students.

  • Train Campus School staff as needed to respond to health and medical needs of individual students.  

  • Consult with teachers, parents and Campus School staff regarding concerns about the students’ general health and well being.

  • Review student emergency cards

  • Oversee and maintain student health records and monitor compliance with Massachusetts state laws.

  • Annually review and revise as necessary protocols and procedures for responding to illnesses, medical emergencies and students with chronic conditions, in consultation with the school administration and the consulting physician.

  • Maintain the nurse’s station, medical supplies and medication dispensing cabinet.

  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Campus School administration.


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: RN licensure, two year nursing experience that includes working with elementary school age children, experience in school setting preferred, CPR and first aid certified.

SKILLS:

Skills: Medical expertise, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with elementary age children, parents, teachers and staff in an effective and supportive manner. Ability to work independently and as a cooperative member of a team; ability to be flexible; good organization skills.
