Clarion University seeks applications for a full-time Help Desk Technician position in the Center for Computing Services. Responsibilities include researching and resolving a wide variety of information technology (IT) problems and issues directed to the Computing Services (CS) Help Desk. The Help Desk supports a broad range of university on-campus and on-line IT services for students, faculty, and staff. Duties include “level 1” IT support — reviewing phone/walk-in/e-mail/web inquiries to Help Desk and determining appropriate action to address the request (directly resolving the issue, coordinating help desk tickets, and collaborating as needed with other CS staff). IT support areas include PC/Mac/Mobile device hardware, software, peripherals, labs and classrooms, audiovisual (A/V) systems, computer accounts (usernames/passwords), network access, and university information systems. Responsibilities also include a wide variety of project work including PC/Mac/tablet/peripheral system installation, maintenance, and support; new hardware/software request research and quote development, vendor coordination, help desk ticket and process coordination, IT inventory coordination, and documentation/training. The Position is contingent upon the availability of funding.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications include an associate degree in a technology related field, or two years of experience providing IT support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Qualified applications must also have knowledge of hardware (pc/mac/peripheral) and software (desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office) installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and support in a networked environment and strong communication skills.

Applicants must complete a successful campus interview. Prior to employment, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and submit current clearances from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred applicants will have strong customer service, team, and projects skills and the ability to effectively support production services for a wide variety and high volume of IT help desk operations.
