Job Description Summary:
Seeking adjunct instructors to teach public speaking and/or interpersonal human communications courses starting in the Fall 2019 semester. Current available courses require face-to-face daytime availability at the Dowagiac and Niles campuses. We do not offer online courses at this time.

Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods, as well as relate to students.
  • Preparing and delivering lessons using a master syllabus and standardized curriculum.
  • Working comfortably with a diverse student population that includes dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students.
  • Grading assignments and providing feedback to students in a timely manner.
  • Utilizing a variety of student engagement strategies in the classroom to ensure active student participation.
  • Using Moodle regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades.
  • Being proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email.
  • Bringing a positive, energetic, and professional attitude into the classroom.
  • Being accessible to students and responding to all in-person and electronic student inquiries.
  • Provide the department with student performance data that is required for regular outcomes assessment.
  • Becoming familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines, and policies of the College.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in Communications
    • Excellent organization and communication skills
    • Demonstrated use of instructional technology

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous teaching experience
