The Graphic Design Specialist is a member of the Office of Communications and Marketing and is responsible for using design—with a focus on digital design—to market the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS) and its units. This person will bring a creative perspective to the team. He or she will work closely with team members and unit partners to produce creative and effective designs that increase outcomes for the college and its units. This person will conduct all work with college goals in mind, and work within the college brand and messaging framework.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create original concepts and designs for digital marketing channels including e-newsletters, websites, video, social, digital signage, and email.
- Contribute to ongoing development, implementation, and evolution of the college brand and adhere to brand guidelines in all work.
- Assist with print and other design projects, including conceptualization, design, and production.
- Stay abreast of current marketing and design trends across all media, especially web, email, social media, and mobile.
- Contribute to and work within project management systems used by the office.
- Perform other duties as needed to further the goals of the college.
Required: A bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, graphic design, visual arts, or a related field to the position. One year of work experience in graphic design or a closely related field.
Preferred: Experience working in or with higher education. Experience professionally communicating and marketing to teenagers and college students.
Successful candidates will have strong artistic ability, including demonstrated ability to use design to impact marketing outcomes. Knowledge of Web and email design including HTML. Ability to work independently. Collaborative approach to problem solving. Attention to detail. Strong oral communication skills. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills. Proficiency with industry standard software, including the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Experience working with Microsoft Office products (particularly PowerPoint).
SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a full-time, twelve-month, Marketing Associate position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
