 The CU College of Nursing is seeking an exceptional faculty leader toserve as the Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs. The idealcandidate would be qualified to hold a faculty appointment at the rank ofAssociate Professor or higher with 0.50 FTE dedicated to the Associate Dean forClinical and Community Affairs administrative faculty appointment.

 The University of Colorado, College of Nursing has an opening for anAssociate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs. This 0.50 FTE administrative faculty appointment serves asthe senior administrator overseeing the College’s faculty practice enterpriseand is responsible for strategic development, provider support and compliance,practice plan operations, practice finance, and clinical site operations.  The Associate Dean is responsible forensuring that the practice activities are conduected in an efficient andethical manner, consistent with the rules and regulations of the University ofColorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

 The Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs reports directly tothe Dean of the College of Nursing and works collaboratively with other membersof the Dean’s Council, faculty and staff.

 Responsibilities of the Position
  • StrategicDevelopment
    • Articulates a compelling, inclusive vision for thefuture of practice within the CU College of Nursing. Provides strategicleadership in developing and refining the College’s practice mission andactivities.
    • Provides leadership in defining levels ofexcellence in nursing practice, in order to guide the College in the conduct ofits programs in clinical and community affairs.
    • Provides leadership in designing systems ofevaluation that ascertain whether levels of excellence are being met within thepractice enterprise.
    • Provides leadership in designing, implementing, andevaluating models of clinical practice.
    • Provides leadership in testing collaborative modelsin nursing service and education and interdisciplinary models.
  • Practice PlanOperations
    • Facilitates interprofessional and collaborativeefforts. Reviews relevant campus, federal, and state fiscal policies andprocedures related to clinical affairs. Provides leadership in developingspecific College of Nursing policies and procedures and directs that College ofNursing operations are consistent with these policies and procedures
  • Designs, in collaboration with faculty, staff, and clinicalagencies, a variety of practice opportunities that allow the College to meetits stated goals for community service and faculty practice.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates programs that reflecttrends and needs in service and clinical practice, and that stem from thephilosophy and goals of the College of Nursing, the Anschutz Medical Campus andthe general University.
  • Provides oversight to provider support functions such asonboarding, credentialing, scheduling, and peer review.
  • Provides oversight to compliance and safety functions forfaculty practice.
  • Collaborates with the Office of University Counsel in thedevelopment of professional service agreements and MOUs.
  • Establishes and manages positive relationships with a varietyof internal and external stakeholders and appropriately represents the Collegeof Nursing and advanced practice.
    • Creates a system of accountability throughdefinition and reporting of quality metrics and productivity standards forpractice faculty.
    • Serves as the designated Chair of the HealthCarePartners Governing Board.
  • Practice Finance
  • Projects budget requirements, administers allocatedbudgets, and monitors the financial status of clinical accounts.
  • Provides leadership in identifying and developing externalfunding to support the community service and practice missions of the College.
  • Submits grants and funding requests to external agencies toexpand practice initiatives.
  • Clinical Site Operations
  • Provides management oversight of the faculty practiceenterprise, including Sheridan Health Services, a multi-site, nurse-led,interprofessional federally qualified health center.
  • Provides management oversight of clinical activities,including current grants and contracts, with an emphasis on efficiency,productivity, and accountability.
    • Provides leadership and supervision to clinicaldirectors to ensure consistency in scope of practice, practice guidelines, andpatient care quality.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Eligiblefor licensure as an RN in the state of Colorado.
  • Doctoraldegree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstratedexpertise in teaching across multiple modalities.
  • Eligiblefor faculty rank of Associate Professor or higher
  • Financialand personnel management; ideally obtained through 5+ years of progressiveleadership experience.
  • Clinicalpractice development/management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Eligiblefor tenure.
  • Experiencecoordinating grant-funded projects.
  • Experience workingon an academic medical campus.
  • Demonstratedknowledge of nurse-led models of care, quality metrics.
