ECU Occupational Therapy is currently seeking undergraduate research assistants.

The primary responsibility of the employee will be to work as a research assistant in a day camp type research program for children with cerebral palsy. The program is a constraint induced movement therapy research program aimed at improving a child’s ability to use their arm.
Undergraduate workers will be partnered with an occupational therapy graduate student and will work together to guide the child through the research intervention treatment tasks. Each pair of student workers will work with one child in the morning and a different child in the afternoon.
The undergraduate student will primarily be responsible for recording data such as repetitions completed, percentage of successful attempts, and time on task. The undergraduate and graduate student will need to maintain close communication throughout treatment session. The undergraduate student will also need to be flexible and be willing to aid in other research related tasks; for example- helping encourage the child, adapting activities, and prepping materials for therapy tasks.

There will also be 1 day of training that workers will be required to attend.

Duties performed may also include one or more of the following core functions:
(a) Directly interacting with or caring for the children assigned them for the study;
(b) Directly interacting with and coordinating care plan with their graduate student partner;
© Regularly maintaining, modifying or similarly affecting participant records; or
(d) Regularly maintaining, modifying or similarly affecting human subjects research records.

Each student would be required to work 30 hours for the camp held August 12-16. An additional 5 hours for training would be held the last week of July.

Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)

Candidate will need to be an undergraduate student at ECU, preferably entering there junior or senior year.
