Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Program Director, Center for Teaching & Faculty Development. This position coordinates, and facilitates, professional development opportunities for Savannah State University faculty. The Center for Teacher and Faculty Development serves as the central campus-wide professional growth and development program that supports the continuous improvement of all faculty in their roles as teachers, scholars/researchers and professionals engaged in services to the institution, the community, and the profession as outlined in USG Policy Manual 8.3.14. With oversight from the Associate Provost/Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs (AP/AVPAA), oversees the daily activities of the Center, provides assistance to the AP/AVPAA, oversees unit communications, and verifies the integrity of activity record-keeping and data collection. Responsible for program/event planning and related details, organizing paperwork processes such as procurement/purchasing, travel arrangements, and other administrative tasks as assigned. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum QualificationsA Master’s degree in Education or related area is required; an earned doctorate from an accredited institution is preferred. A minimum of five years in higher education; prior teaching experience, and administrative experience. Thorough knowledge of current pedagogical practices and evidence of research and or experience in the area. Ability to work with diverse faculty and stakeholders required. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to details, deadlines, and making decisions. Strong organizational and time management skills. The strong candidate must understand and support the academic mission of SSU. Background and/or credit check may be required.
