20-Jun-2019 Close All Job Summary The Carpenter Assistant position exists to repair and provide well maintained facilities for the students, faculty and staff at the University of Colorado. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Provide clean, safe, comfortable, maintained living and study facilities for students, faculty, and staff at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
You will be working for Housing Construction Services a construction / solid surface fabrication department for the University of Colorado, Boulder. You will be asked to assist with professional carpentry skills to perform needed renovations, remodeling and new construction to the University of Colorado residence halls and family housing areas.
In this position, you will be asked to:
Assist journey level carpenters with construction and renovation of bathrooms fabricating solid surface (SS) counters, shower walls, and SS basins. Installing new porcelain and ceramic tiles on floors and walls. Removing and constructing new walls, ceilings, and floors with standards for SS and ceramic tile installation. Installing new doors, bathroom partitions and all associated hardware. Prepping painting and texturing bathroom walls, partitions, and ceilings. Assist in framing, drywall, painting, solid surface fabrication, and other assigned duties.
Help Structural II prep for the full renovation of a bathroom. Be willing to learn the fabrication process of solid surface (SS) counters, shower walls, and SS basins. Aid in the removing and installation of shower stalls, and SS basins, porcelain and ceramic tiles on floors and walls, bathroom partitions, and all associated hardware. Prep for painting and texturizing bathroom walls, and ceilings. Pickup/delivery of materials or equipment. Aid in the cleanup process.
Assist journey level carpenters with construction and repair of walls by installing top and bottom plates, metal, wood studs, metal lath, drywall, paneling, window installation and trim, crown moldings and other construction/maintenance duties assigned.
Provide proper functioning of bathrooms by repairing or replacing stall and shower partitions, doors, and hardware and accessories, and mirrors.
Help Structural II prep for wall repairs. Have knowledge of top and bottom plates, metal, wood studs, metal laths, drywall, paneling, window installation and trim, crown molding and other assigned construction duties. Pickup/delivery of materials or equipment. Aid in cleanup process.
Help Structural II with the repair, construction, and installation of cabinets and counter tops. Pickup/delivery of materials or equipment. Aid in the cleanup process.
Other Duties
  • May be responsible for operating campus vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Require Two years of progressively responsible experience in the structural trades (building maintenance trades including carpentry, electrical or painting maintenance, or locksmithing). What We Would Like You To Have Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher level course work from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocational or trades school.
