Associate Professor of Education

The University of Mobile invites applications for a full-time/tenure track position of Associate Professor of Education.The successful candidate will be a Christian who is an active member in a local church; and who supports Statement of Christian Affirmation (https://umobile.edu/about/mission/)Candidates must hold a terminal degree or the equivalent. A minimum of five years of teaching experience is required in a P-12 school system as well as a minimum of five years of teaching experience in an institution of higher education. This position will begin in January of 2020.

Position responsibilities include the following:

  • Demonstrates the Imago Dei of Christ (Gen 1:26) in all aspects of one’s professional role, personal interactions and community relations.
  • Faculty member will be responsible for teaching a wide variety of education courses.
  • Faculty member may also supervise field, clinical, and practicum students.
  • The faculty member must exhibit potential for teaching excellence, knowledge of emerging trends in the field, and a working knowledge of how students learn.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity or a well-developed research agenda is also encouraged.
  • Faculty may be required to teach evening classes as well as online and hybrid courses. Training in the development and delivery of online instruction is provided by the university.
  • Faculty must be available to work special campus events as well as school of education events when needed.
