Job Description:
SUMMARYAdministers and supports administrative and academic applications across the College. Responsible for the installation, upgrade, maintenance and support of both administrative and academic applications, including their respective database and server environments. Participates in technical strategic planning sessions to ensure that the College is well positioned for the future.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponds to, investigates, and resolves issues reported by end-users for supported applications, the associated backend databases, and all interfaced applicationsMonitors and optimizes the performance of all associated server environmentsMaintains database and middleware (Weblogic, tomcat, etc.) server software as necessaryMaintains the servers (Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc.) as necessaryMaintains all associated disaster recovery environmentsDevelops and maintains the necessary troubleshooting documentationCross-trains team members to ensure support continuityUpdates associated application architecture diagrams as changes are madeActs as primary liaison to the associated vendor HelpDesk for issue resolutionApplies security patches as necessaryDevelops and maintains scripts (shell, perl, batch, etc.) as necessaryProvides before, after hours, and weekend support to resolve application issues as necessaryRecommends the necessary server configurations (disk, memory, etc.) in order to support new applicationsInstalls, upgrades, and configures new middleware server software, database software and applications as necessaryApplies software patches and performs major upgrades as necessaryProvides before, after hours, and weekend support for migrations and upgrades as necessaryIdentifies and evaluates new tools and solutions for improved application and server managementPerforms capacity planning (disk, memory, etc.), as well as short-term and long-term upgrade planningProvides analysis, consultation, and recommendations to project teams, especially as they relate to the associated environmentIdentifies cross-training and documentation opportunitiesPerforms other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGBachelor’s Degree in I.T., Computer Science, or related field- Significant related experience may substitute for education
