The College of Professional Studies and Advancement (CPSA) at National Louis University invites applications for an open rank faculty supporting the M.S. in Human Resources Management and Development, the M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the corresponding dual degree. This is a ten-month, full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position with some administrative responsibilities, with rank to be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience.


The M.S. in Human Resource Management and Development is a well-established program offered in two formats; our campus-based program at our Chicago campus (In this format classes are a blend of three in-class sessions per course combined with online coursework) and our fully Online program. We offer students a high quality, student focused program and are proud to have recently been named as one of the Best Online degrees in Human Resources as well as one of the most affordable HR master’s programs in the U.S. The program attracts human resource professionals seeking to advance their careers as well as those seeking to transition into the HR field. (predominantly from other areas of business, social work and education)

The M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, launched in 2017 and ranked in 2018 and 2019 as one of the Nation’s 25 best master’s online programs in I/O Psychology. The innovative, fully online program attracts candidates from a wide variety of fields, including human resources, business, social work and psychology who are seeking to develop and/or broaden their HR and/or Psychology skillsets.

The candidate will join the full-time Program Director and a team of highly-engaged practitioner colleagues to continue growing our community of practitioner-scholars.

We are looking for a collaborative, dedicated, and student-centered colleague who will help us live this mission, particularly in the following ways:

• Teaching:
o Delivery of master’s level courses in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Leadership, Research Methods and/or other program courses as needed through online and campus-based formats
• Passion for Student Success
o Contributions to continuous improvement of student outcomes in engagement, retention, graduation, and career advancement
o Active involvement in the programs, tools and events that enable students to learn and experience more about the field while pursuing their degree. This includes, but is not limited to the NLU Student SHRM chapter, attending Local SHRM events, and maintaining the NLU HRMD Program LinkedIn site.
o The incumbent will serve as the point person for the graduate Human Resources Internship program, updating internship processes, and maintaining/updating a new curriculum that is launching in the Summer of 2019
o Student advising, including advising on academic progress and professional goals
• Course Assessment, Maintenance, and Development:
o Some development of courses and learning experiences
o Course updates to the master online templates as necessary
o Participation in programmatic and student learning outcome assessment
• Professional Community Liaison
o Membership and active involvement in field appropriate Professional Organization(s) such as SIOP, SHRM, or AOM
o The incumbent will play an active leadership role with our Advisory Council to ensure that we continue to offer programs providing our students with skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the field
o Outreach efforts to support program growth and ensure that our message and value proposition is represented in the community
 

Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior or closely related field.
• Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience both in teaching and in practice, with a minimum of:
o three to five years of full-time professional practice experience in administrative, managerial, and/or executive positions in HR or I/O Psychology
o research experience in one of the above (or related) disciplines as evidenced by publications in journals, books, book chapters, white papers, or presentations to corporate, academic, or professional communities.
• Record of effective teaching in higher education
• Record of effective teaching in online and hybrid/blended format
• Professionalism in and demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations
• Commitment to student success, student professional growth, and effective professional advising.
• Experience in learning outcome assessment
• Experience using technology in teaching and course development
• Appropriate professional memberships
