The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is made up of seven colleges, the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest nationally. The Marketing and Communications Department strives to create and maintain a strong, highly integrated district wide strategic marketing plan, essential to promoting the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) brand, building public awareness and a positive image of CCC, and supporting student recruitment strategies.
Primary Objective:Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications, the Content Marketing Specialist creates compelling content that enhances the image of City Colleges of Chicago’s (CCC), increases brand awareness, attracts students and drives enrollment, and builds relationships with key groups.
The Content Marketing Specialist crafts fresh, energizing, and engaging content that gets attention and drives action, works collaboratively with marketing staff to create, publish, and distribute valuable, relevant, and consistent marketing content that generates demand from targeted audiences and drives lead generation and engagement. Perform related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates work efforts with Digital Strategy Manager and marketing staff to deliver content through online marketing channels, social media platforms, print, video, and traditional/offline marketing/advertising channels.
  • Works collaboratively with marketing and communications staff in developing and implementing an integrated content marketing strategy to include a media plan, creative campaigns and other print and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of marketing, recruitment, and branding campaigns and message strategies for print, web and social media initiatives that contribute to an overall inbound marketing strategy.
  • Accountable for the creation of dynamic and engaging content for both print and digital marketing platforms, including email and web copy, digital advertising, social media content, presentations, thought leadership pieces, and client stores.
  • Works with marketing staff on the selection and use of tone, style, structure and voice of content materials based on understanding of audience types.
  • Reviews content for inclusion in marketing initiatives and makes recommendations based on usage, space, strategy, media and brand considerations.
  • Works with video production team to develop on-brand videos for use in digital marketing and social media.
  • Collaborates with college social media representatives to ensure brand consistency across all CCC social media platforms.
  • Communicates with social media followers; responds to queries in a timely manner; and monitors customer reviews. Edits and revise content based on internal and external feedback.
  • Monitors web traffic and reports on content measurement using a combination of web analytic tools and metrics.
  • Recommends new features to develop brand awareness, such as promotions and competitions.

QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations or a related field
  • Two years of professional copywriting or content marketing experience
  • Experience producing marketing content for higher education institutions preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in content creation for digital marketing and traditional media
  • Demonstrated knowledge content market strategy and creation
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate computers and related equipment and software
  • Primarily sedentary with intermittent standing, walking, bending and stooping. Some lifting or carrying of objects of light weight may be required.
