Bucknell University Facilities is seeking an Electrician who is well versed in all aspects of electrical construction, maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspection type activities. This position requires lay-out and installation of complete jobs, as well as print and schematic interpretation. Job duties include:
• Apply the fundamentals of basic commercial, industrial, and residential wiring in selection of proper wire size and insulation of conductor for required voltage and amperage.
• Install power and control wiring for motors, and heating and cooling systems.
• Bend, cut and fit metallic conduit and install wiremold and fittings.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair emergency lighting and generator systems.
• Support dining operations by repairing and maintaining commercial ovens, mixers, griddles, etc.
• Read multi-meters and interpret readings for determining further actions.
• Interpret and apply principles prescribed by the National Electrical Code.
• Use electrical hand tools, furnish and maintain a set of personal tools.
• Design and install electrical projects/tasks according to prints and schematics.
• Adheres to OSHA standards, employs safe practices, and follows safety policies/procedures. Uses PPE in a safe manner, sets examples for others, notifies supervisor of potential hazards, and demonstrates good housekeeping habits.
• Supports and promotes the University’s sustainability efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or equivalent with strong math and shop background.
● A two-year technical degree in an electrical discipline OR four years of hands-on experience in electrical construction/troubleshooting/preventive maintenance.
● Demonstrated ability to become fully competent in 600 volt and 12,470 volt electrical systems.
● A valid driver's license.
● Ability to work independently and as a team member; take initiative; use good judgment; and communicate effectively.
● Ability to understand oral and written instructions and procedures.
● Knowledge of and ability to use computer programs.
● Ability to work evenings and weekends as required, including overtime, and respond to calls outside normal business hours.
● Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

● A post offer criminal background and driving history check, drug screening and physical will be conducted.
● This position is classified as part of essential services. The individual reports to work even if campus has a delayed opening, early closing, or is closed, unless instructed otherwise by a supervisor or when there are concerns related to personal safety.

Physical Demands:
● Ability to move around work sites including climb ladders, stairs and scaffolds; enter and exit trenches, crawl spaces and confined areas; work on scaffolds, elevated walkways, roofs and elevated areas.
● Lift and carry up to 75 pounds unassisted.
● Use proper safety equipment for ears, head, eyes, feet, hands and body protection.
● The person in this position indoors and outdoors. There is daily exposure to dust, dirt, weather, and temperature changes.
