Applications for Adjunct Faculty will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed. Please upload a CV, cover letter, teaching statement, and the names and contact information of three (3) professional references. Applicants should indicate which campus they are willing to accept theses interim assignments at in their cover letter.
Adjunct faculty members will contribute to the delivery of undergraduate courses in Geography, including, but not limited to courses in the general education curriculum.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Face-to-face, interactive video, or online course delivery and instruction.
- Prepare and submit syllabi, grades, and other required course documentation in a timely manner.
- Communicate course requirements and expectations to students.
- Coordinate course schedule with other faculty teaching the same course.
- Assist students with course material as necessary, potentially outside of class time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
1. Master’s degree in geography or closely related field from an accredited university.
2. At least 18 hours of graduate level coursework in geography.
3. Uphold the mission and values of USM, College of Arts and Sciences, and the School of Biological, Environmental, and Earth Sciences.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Proven ability of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level.
Preferred Qualifications Teaching, mentoring and service experience at a university level. Experience with Canvas technology.
