DutiesThe Associate Director of the Theatre Arts Program will be at the center of all administrative aspects of the program, reporting to the Program Director, supporting four full-time faculty members and a number of part-time lecturers, supervising the program’s Administrative Assistant, and advising students as needed. The position’s responsibilities are broad, including all aspects of communications, such as website design and maintenance, management of social media, and creation/distribution of newsletters and brochures; budget management; processing of part-time lecturers; participation in curriculum planning; oversight of event planning; and maintenance of program calendar. This role requires participation in strategic planning, and attendance at faculty meetings and program-related events. The Associate Director will also be involved in the hiring of work study students, and will collaborate with the Theatre Technical and Production Coordinator where responsibilities overlap.
QualificationsA Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Essential skills include: Strong written and oral communication skills; proficiency with computers, especially website design and maintenance; use of social media; familiarity with budgeting. The Associate Director must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and to hold self and others to deadlines. The ideal candidate for this position would be cheerful, optimistic, good-humored, and a dedicated team member. The position requires a strong work ethic, an ability to multi-task, and commitment to our mission: providing an excellent education in Theatre Arts to undergraduates. A background in theatre is highly desirable, as is experience working in higher education.
