ACM Program Full Time Faculty- 2019

Harcum College, a leader among the nation’s 2 year colleges, is seeking a full-time faculty member for our Animal Center Management program for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The Animal Center Management program is designed to prepare students for management careers at facilities where animals are maintained (e.g.: animal care businesses, research laboratories, nonprofit organizations (ex: SPCA), veterinary centers and zoos. Students complete a variety of courses that provide knowledge and skills in both animal care and business concepts. Students are encouraged and supported in developing opportunities to apply and practice those skills in hands-on settings.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This faculty position will be responsible for teaching, supporting the program advisory board, providing student advisement, acting as faculty supervisor for the ACM student club, identifying and organizing guest speakers, field trips. and other educational opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Teaching
  • Course preparation and modification as necessary
  • Program support activities as directed by the ACM Program Director
  • Attendance at program and college events (open houses, new student orientations, faculty senate, faculty development, in-service and other events as identified by the college and/or program director).
  • Service to the college (committee attendance and participation)
  • Develop or continue experience with, and application of, online education programs.

Qualifications / Skills :

  • Experience with animal center management, and/or experience with animal centers
  • Expertise with animal sciences
  • Familiarity with business concepts and their applications
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred, in alternative an associate degree and experience acceptable.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication and organizational skills are a must.
  • The job search is open until a suitable candidate is found. Preferred start date May 2019.
