The College of Family and Consumer Science is guided by the signature motto “Knowledge for Real Life,” our faculty and students are responding to some of the most challenging issues facing us today. We are studying and applying the principles of design and business, the sciences and technologies to develop healthier people and thriving communities through more effective educators and a high-tech global workforce. FACS supports approximately 100 faculty/lecturers, 300 staff, 1,600 students, and multiple employees in extension within the state of Georgia. We have a complex funding model with state A budget, B budget, eRate programs, grants, sales & services revenue, continuing education income, foundation funds, and partnering with other units for shared employees.

Position Summary

This is a highly responsible and visible position that oversees business, financial, and human resource aspects of the College. This position reports directly to the Financial Director, assisting with budget development, budgeting, analysis, and auditing of College of Family and Consumer Sciences funding sources to ensure reasonableness and accuracy of financial data. Responsibilities include College budget oversight, complex problem solving, workforce forecasting, funding projections, and reporting. This position also provides training, leadership, and mentoring to other business managers in the College.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Thorough knowledge of UGA and Foundation policies and procedures, experience working in UGA Financial Management System, UGA Budget Management System, OneUSG Connect, Simpler, UGAmart and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel. PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with multiple funding sources such as grants, sales and service, indirect costs, salary savings, foundation and study away.
Develop and manage budgets as well as strategic planning with Department Head and Financial Director.
Able to communicate effectively via multiple venues to varied stakeholders.
Able to utilize computer technology for all applications in a manner that meets performance expectations.
Able to remember, organize and consistently focus on a large amount of details and come to appropriate conclusions.
Mentor and train two financial staff to provide fiscal oversight and professional development.
Work in a team environment and contribute to the team as well as accomplish individual tasks and goals.

•Co-manage the College’s annual budget planning process, raise process and budget with the Financial Director with focused oversight in fiscal and personnel matters for two departments and several smaller units.
•This includes financial consulting with senior administration of College and supporting the financial and administrative mission of the University.
•This is a focused project in the spring of each fiscal year.

•Oversight of accounting, reporting and financial monitoring of departments/units as BFO Liaison.
•Works collaboratively with departments and serves as a resource to help identify and resolve complex problems encountered in UGA’s financial and data based systems.
•Independent responsibility for financial health of these units with oversight from the Financial Director and Dean of the College as liaison.
•Meets with unit heads and financial staff to explain policies and procedures and resolve issues.
•Present helpful, professional and courteous attitude and mannerisms.
•Review monthly reporting, sub-ledger reconciliations and projections.
•Help to facilitate strategic planning within departments and act as the example to model within the College.

•Identification and analysis of data from the reporting cubes, OIR, Financial and Budget Management systems, and other sources of data to identify treads, develop –forecasts of expenditures and funding as well as provide reports to the Financial Director, Dean, Department Heads or Others to ensure informed and strategic decision making.
•Supervises and approves all financial transactions for the specific departments supported and backup for the College.
•Audit college chartstrings as needed or requested by Financial Director, provide feedback on findings to take corrective actions.
•Review, tabulate and submit continuous budget modifications to the original budget or new funding allocations.

•Manage Associate Dean of Outreach and Extension funds including Cooperative Extension Services B Budget and ASPIRE Clinic revenue accounts. Provide routine reporting, monthly meetings, problem solving, liaison with other units, and projections of revenue.
•College liaison and budgetary oversight and manager for all study away programs including field studies. This includes partnering with Office of Global Engagement, Program Directors, Associate Dean of Academics within FACS, and department business managers to ensure compliance, reconciliation and proper budgeting of each trip.
•Manage the BFO’s departmental email account including organizing correspondences, delivering and managing replies and overall customer service for the central business office within FACS.

•Assist Financial Director and HR Coordinator with changes in funding and new hires process for focused departments in UGAJobs.to flow to OneUSG Connect.
•Provide training and mentoring to Departmental financial staff for new hires and existing staff.
•Unit approver for FACS departments payroll, submit change in funding requests, distribute salary savings, and submit any salary increases for focused units during the fiscal year.
•Ensure that all employees are terminated per procedures. This includes coordination with HR Coordinator, Dean’s Office and the Departments within the College.
