Position Information

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualificaitons.

Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

Ensure connectivity between workstations and servers as well as proper communication between resources. Keep servers available for network utilization.

Assemble hardware per specifications of the contract or ITOS needs. Install the Operating System and any additional software required. Ensure proper functioning of the server.

Manage all backup systems including off-site tapes as planned.

Create, modify, and delete users/groups in the Windows domain, the *NIX system, and the e-mail systems as needed.

Rollout new software to all systems. Maintain and keep the software up to date.

Assist contracted customers in any manner they require within the scope of the contract.

Ensure documentation of all hardware and software in new servers. Ensure that the documentation is maintained.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Knowledge of communications systems, technology and products (Ethernet, Wireless, fiber channel storage, etc); Emphasis on computer networks; Experience as a network manager; Experience in computer systems technical support; Experience in several operating systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux); Experience in several programming/scripting languages (C/C++, Visual Basic, Perl, UNIX shells scripting); Experience dealing with DBMSs (ORACLE, MS-SQL, MySQL); Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills; and Outstanding ability to present, negotiate and self-motivate.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift and move various computer equipment up to 50 lbs.
