The Neutrino Group at University of California, Irvine invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will participate in hardware, software development and data analysis in DUNE and NOvA experiments.

For analysis and software, the UCI group plays leading roles in neutrino oscillation and neutrino-electron analyses at NOvA, deep learning based event reconstruction at DUNE and NOvA, and statistical tools in neutrino oscillation analyses.

On the hardware side, the UCI group is responsible for DUNE/ProtoDUNE’s liquid argon purity monitors (miniature time projection chambers measuring electron lifetime with deep UV in liquid argon). We are also involved in DUNE cold electronics and DAQ consortia.

A postdoctoral researcher in our group is expected to work on purity monitor R&D and fabrication for DUNE/ProtoDUNE, as well as deep-learning reconstruction software development at DUNE and NOvA. The candidate is also expected to contribute to data analysis in NOvA and protoDUNE. The candidate must be able to travel to Fermilab and CERN.

We are seeking a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics with the skills to work in both hardware and software/analysis. Applicants should prepare a curriculum vitae, a description of research interests and arrange for three letters of recommendation.
